On October 11 KST, the 50th civil division of the Seoul Central District Court convened for a hearing to determine the validity of the injunction requested by former CEO Min Hee Jin of ADOR, who is claiming that HYBE's decision to dismiss her as CEO was a violation of her shareholder contract.
On this day, Min Hee Jin's side presented alleged "new evidence" to support the claims that the BeLift Lab girl group ILLIT copied Min Hee Jin's girl group NewJeans.
Min Hee Jin's legal representative stated on this day, "We recently received a shocking tip from an informant. This informant also handed us a document containing the project proposal files of NewJeans and ILLIT, asking us to compare the two proposals."
The legal representative continued, "The informant, who is affiliated with BeLift Lab, revealed that the NewJeans proposal was shared among the staff to use as a 'reference'. They were impressed by the NewJeans proposal, but later, when they compared the NewJeans proposal to the ILLIT proposal, they were shocked by the similarities."
Meanwhile, Min Hee Jin was previously dismissed as CEO of ADOR on August 27 during an executive board meeting. Kim Joo Young was selected as the new CEO in her place. Min's side claimed that this move, directed by HYBE Labels, was a violation of her shareholder contract, and that she was "dismissed by force against her will" and "was notified without prior consent" that she would continue her role as a producer for NewJeans.
The civil court is expected to reach a decision regarding Min Hee Jin's injunction request soon.
