‘650 Million Creator’ Logan Moffitt is embarking on a journey to explore K-grandmother’s authentic flavors.
On the morning of October 8th KST, the first episode of ‘GRAND MAAT’ was uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘JohnMaat.’
‘GRAND MAAT’ is a K-food content series featuring Canadian creator Logan Moffitt, who became a sensation on the global short-form platform TikTok with his cucumber salad recipe, earning him the nickname ‘Cucumber Man.’ Known as ‘Logan-geum’ in Korea for his love of Korean cuisine, Logan embarks on a journey to the countryside to experience the flavors of K-grandmothers’ home-cooked meals.
In this episode, Logan, along with his sister Abby and friend Amelia, visited Gokseong, a peaceful and scenic countryside in Korea. They were captivated by the serene and traditional charm of the Korean countryside and expressed their satisfaction with the experience of staying in a traditional hanok house.
While heading out for lunch, the group was invited by the village head to visit a local senior center, where they were greeted warmly by grandmothers who prepared a variety of traditional dishes, including suyuk (boiled pork), kimchi, oi-naengguk (cold cucumber soup), and buchujeon (chive pancakes). Logan and his companions were impressed by the grandmothers’ generous hospitality and the rich, authentic flavors of their food.
Later, Logan and his group visited a local market to purchase cucumbers and returned to their lodging. Using his own recipe with ingredients like minced garlic and sesame oil, Logan prepared a cucumber salad to gift to the grandmothers, building anticipation for the next episode.
‘GRAND MAAT’ has already captured the appetites of viewers both in Korea and abroad with its delightful portrayal of traditional Korean grandmotherly cooking. Logan and his friends’ heartwarming interactions with the grandmothers announce the birth of a ‘new healing content’ series.
The name ‘GRAND MAAT’ combines “grandmother” and the English pronunciation of “맛” (taste). Through Logan’s countryside explorations, the series aims to introduce the unique flavors of K-grandmothers to a global audience. ‘GRAND MAAT’ will be released every Tuesday at 10 AM on the YouTube channel ‘JohnMaat.’
