aespa’s Karina and Giselle share recording and stage backstories.
On October 30th KST, aespa’s Karina and Giselle appeared as guests on KBS cool FM’s "Lee Eun Ji’s Music Plaza". The group recently released their fifth mini-album, Whiplash, on October 21st, featuring six tracks, including the title song.
During the show, Lee Eun Ji praised Karina, saying, “I watched the recording behind-the-scenes video, and the recording director was so impressed by how well you performed.” Karina responded, “Recording usually takes an hour or two, but for Whiplash, I finished in just 15 minutes. It wasn’t that I rushed it; the song just matched my voice well, so it was quick.”
On the other hand, Giselle shared, “Whiplash was challenging for me; the pitch range didn’t suit my voice as well. I have a softer, lower range, so it took longer, and I even did re-recordings.”
Lee Eun Ji encouraged Giselle, mentioning her bold stage moment, saying, “In the performance, there was that moment when you took off your hat and confidently announced, ‘I’m Giselle!’ You must have put a lot of thought into it.” Giselle explained, “During our debut performance, my hair kept coming loose, so I ended up removing the hat. The audience responded positively, so I kept the look for our Music Core performance.”
Karina and Lee Eun Ji praised Giselle’s spontaneous stage move, calling her a “natural” and a “stage expert.”
