Pistol shooter Kim Ye Ji, who went viral globally, shared her thoughts on Elon Musk in a recent interview on 'You Quiz on the Block.'
On the September 4 episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block,' which featured a special segment titled “Shoot for Life,” South Korean Olympic silver medalist Kim Ye Ji talked about the global attention she received after being mentioned by Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter).
Host Yoo Jae Suk reminisced about a previous desire to invite her when other national shooting athletes were on the show, but she had to cancel due to health reasons. Kim Ye Ji recounted, "I spent time with my cousin in Imsil, and then I suddenly collapsed during an event," which drew attention to her health concerns.
Speaking about her current schedule post-Olympics, Kim Ye Ji shared, "I still have several shooting competitions coming up. In a few days, I’ll be competing in the National Police Chief Shooting Championship, which is also a national team selection event."
Inquiring about how her life changed after becoming famous, Yoo Jae Suk brought up how Kim had become one of the top 10 stars of the 2024 Paris Olympics, to which she replied, "I only feel it when people suddenly recognize me at places like rest stops or cafes. Otherwise, since I spend so much time training, it doesn’t really hit me."
Jo Se Ho asked about her reaction to Elon Musk sharing her image online, and Kim humorously responded, "I didn’t think much of it. To me, he's just some old rich guy," which brought laughter from the two hosts. Despite her lighthearted reaction, she expressed gratitude for the attention.
Kim Ye Ji also shared some memorable online comments, saying, "Many people asked me to shoot things for them or commented that they were glad they weren't my enemy."
Addressing the buzz around her signing a contract with an agency and a luxury brand, she clarified, "I’ll continue shooting, and the agency contract was simply a way to help promote the sport more widely."
Reflecting on her experience at the Paris Olympics, Kim confessed, "It felt like a competition where I couldn’t achieve what I wanted. I have a lot of regrets because I wasn’t able to overcome my own limits."
