TXT’s Yeonjun set to showcase dance power with new solo mixtape ‘GGUM’.
Yeonjun of Tomorrow X Together (TXT) is preparing to wow fans with his new solo mixtape ‘GGUM’, which will be released on September 19th at 6 PM KST. Prior to the release, on September 13th, a high-level dance challenge was pre-released through Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, creating a buzz. As of midnight on September 17th, just four days after its release, the ‘GGUM’ dance challenge video had accumulated over 17.14 million combined views.
The dance challenge highlights Yeonjun’s impressive performance skills and smooth moves. The choreography, set to the addictive chorus “chewing gum”, features groovy yet powerful movements that flow seamlessly. The high-level performance has intrigued many skilled dancers to attempt the challenge, with many of the uploaded challenge videos being shot by professional dancers. On the flip side, there have been humorous responses like “Only Yeonjun can pull this off” and memes of people “running away from the challenge because it’s too difficult.”
At midnight on September 17 KST, TXT’s official social media channels posted a teaser photo hinting at the vibe of the ‘GGUM’ music video. The image shows a sticky piece of gum clinging to the sole of a shoe, sparking curiosity. The music video teaser will be released on the 18th at midnight, with the full video premiering alongside the song on September 19th at 6 PM KST.
‘GGUM’ is a hip-hop track with an electronic sound, featuring modulated vocals and a break section driven by powerful piano riffs. Yeonjun was involved from the choreography planning stage, working on unique gestures like the gum-chewing motion and refining the overall flow and composition of the performance.
Yeonjun will bring ‘GGUM’ to music shows, starting with KBS2’s ‘Music Bank’ on September 20 KST, followed by appearances on MBC’s ‘Show! Music Core’, SBS’s ‘Inkigayo’, and Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’, where he will perform his new song.
