The Boyz is preparing to leave their current label, IST Entertainment, a subsidiary of Kakao Entertainment, as they search for a new agency.
According to TenAsia's report on September 23rd(KST), The Boyz's contract with IST Entertainment is set to expire in mid-December. The members have decided to look for a new agency rather than renew their contract.
Sources indicate that The Boyz is prioritizing finding a company that can meet their musical vision while maintaining a transparent management system. It has been reported that they are in the final stages of discussions with a specific agency.
Under the Korea Entertainment Management Association's tampering regulations, it is permissible to negotiate with other agencies three months prior to contract expiration. With about three months left on their contract, The Boyz can now legally explore new opportunities.
The group is reportedly eager to continue working as a complete unit, thanks to the strong bond between the members. The decision to move together as a group, even if they sign with a new agency, is being discussed.
However, it remains to be seen if they will be able to retain the name The Boyz.
The trademark for the group name is owned by IST Entertainment. While the agency may allow the group to continue using the name or even sell the rights, this will be a matter for future negotiation. Several groups who have left their agencies have had to adopt new names as a result.
Meanwhile, The Boyz has confirmed their comeback at the end of October. They last released PHANTASY Pt.3 'Love Letter' in March, and the title track 'Nectar' marked their most recent promotions. Their upcoming release will be their first album in about seven months, and fans are eagerly anticipating the concept they will reveal next.
The group is also nearing the end of their third world tour, which kicked off in July at the KSPO Dome in Seoul. Their 'ZENERATION II' tour has taken them to 15 cities across North America, Asia, and Europe, with the final show set to take place in Osaka, Japan.
Debuting in 2017, The Boyz gained significant recognition after winning Mnet's 'Road to Kingdom' in 2020. They further expanded their fanbase with a strong performance on 'Kingdom' and have continued to release hits like 'Thrill Ride' and 'The Stealer.'
