Pledis Entertainment will produce K-pop content around Jeju in partnership with the local government.
On September 13 KST, Pledis and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province officials held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony at the HYBE headquarters to pledge cooperation in boosting K-pop Jeju content. Attendees included Pledis CEO Lee Da Hye, Jeju Governor Oh Young Hoon, and other related officials from both sides.
Pledis and Jeju plan to establish a cooperative framework aimed at promoting Jeju’s cultural tourism industry and producing K-pop content based in Jeju, while also enhancing the brand value of both Jeju and Pledis. Through this collaboration, they aim to promote Jeju through K-pop performances and content, and foresee an expansion of the K-pop industry within Jeju.
Pledis stated, "We are happy and excited to collaborate with Jeju for the activation of K-pop content. We hope this MOU will have a 'win-win' effect by widely promoting K-pop content to tourists visiting Jeju, while introducing K-pop fans to Jeju’s various attractions and culture."
Governor Oh Young Hoon commented, "This agreement is expected to present effective measures for attracting not only domestic but also international tourists, while setting a new milestone for Jeju’s cultural tourism. We will continue to work closely to enhance the brand value of both Jeju and Pledis."
Meanwhile, as previously reported, one such action the agreement will be taking is appointing Seventeen member Seungkwan as Jeju promotional ambassador, as he is a native of Jeju and was raised in the town Gujwa.
