Actor Kang Dong Won has shown a determined expression in the newly released character posters for the Netflix film 'Uprising (Jeon, Ran)' (directed by Kim Sang Man). The posters and character stills feature Kang Dong Won, Park Jung Min, Cha Seung Won, Kim Shin Rok, Jin Seon Gyu, and Jung Sung Il.
Kang Dong Won plays Cheon Young, a slave with extraordinary swordsmanship skills. He is determined to break free from his slave status and return to his original position as a commoner.
In the poster, Kang Dong Won's intense gaze reflects the complex emotions of his character, Cheon Young, conveying a side of the actor that audiences have not seen before.
Park Jung Min portrays Jong Ryeo, the only son of the most prominent military family in Joseon. Despite forming a strong friendship with Cheon Young that transcends social classes, he seeks revenge after Cheon Young kills his entire family.
Park Jung Min brings depth to the wide emotional range Jong Ryeo experiences. The former friends meet again as adversaries—one a warrior and the other a righteous official—heightening the audience’s curiosity about their storyline.
Cha Seung Won takes on the role of King Seonjo, a ruler who abandons his people and flees. He focuses solely on preserving royal authority, rather than caring for the hearts of his subjects, and brings his own interpretation to the character.
Kim Shin Rok plays Beom Dong, a militia leader of humble origins, while Jin Seon Gyu transforms into Kim Ja Ryeong, a leader guiding the common people. Jung Sung Il portrays Genshin, the vanguard commander of the Japanese army.
A representative from the production stated, “The film intricately depicts the stories of these characters, each battling their own fates during a chaotic era, captivating viewers around the world.”
'Jeon, Ran' is a historical drama set against the backdrop of the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592. The film has been selected as the opening film for the 29th Busan International Film Festival and will be released on October 11th.
