The group NMIXX has found themselves at the center of an unexpected hate comment attack.

NMIXX recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'MMTG Civilization Express.' During the show, the host, JaeJae, introduced a "Mix Pop" segment asking the girls to sing a medley that included the songs "Dokdo is Our Land," SHINee's "Lucifer," the children's song "Crocodile Song," the theme song from the anime "Pokémon" and more. The members of NMIXX each sang a line from the medley, with Haewon singing "If you tie me down and trap me" (from "Lucifer"), Sullyoon singing "80km away on the East-South from Ullengdo" (from "Dokdo is Our Land"), Jiwoo singing a portion of the "Pokémon" OST, Lily singing "There's a lonely isle for sea birds" (from "Dokdo is Our Land"), Bae singing "Whoever insists it's their land" (from "Dokdo is Our Land"), and Kyujin singing "Here comes the crocodile" (from "Crocodile").

However, the fact that NMIXX sang "Dokdo is Our Land" led to a wave of hate comments accusing them of "anti-Japanese actions."

Some Japanese netizens flooded them with hate comments, stating things like "I won't support NMIXX" and "If they plan to continue activities in Japan, they should be prepared." Some even criticized the group for disrespecting TWICE's Japanese members, Sana, Mina, and Momo, who are also under the same agency, JYP Entertainment, drawing ridicule for their claims.

The tension between Korea and Japan over Dokdo stems from a long-standing territorial dispute. Both countries claim sovereignty over the islets, but South Korea has maintained control since the 1950s, stationing a small police detachment there. The dispute is deeply rooted in historical grievances, including Japan's colonization of Korea in the early 20th century, making Dokdo a symbol of national pride and historical memory for many Koreans.

Despite the controversy, NMIXX has been gaining popularity, recently winning first place on KBS2's 'Music Bank' with their latest title track, "See that?" from their album 'Fe3O4: STICK OUT,' released last month. The group is also set to hold their second fan concert from October 4th to the 6th at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
