HYBE implicated ILLIT in rumors a label group was allegedly told to ignore NewJeans.
As previously reported, NewJeans' Hanni revealed a manager for another HYBE label group instructed the group members to ignore her, which became a hot topic online. Though many netizens speculated the group in question was none other than ILLIT, the identity of the group was never revealed.
On September 13, media outlet Hankook Kyungjae reported the manager did work for ILLIT according to HYBE. They reported, "According to HYBE, they found the ILLIT members and Hanni greeted each other and the manager did not make the alleged problematic statement after reviewing the 7-8 minutes of interaction through CCTV."
The reveal went on to become viral on online communities with one poster writing, "Honestly, I don't think it's important which group's manager said that, but is HYBE crazy? Why are they implicating ILLIT and involving them in controversy again? It seems like they're just using them as a shield. Does HYBE even respect their artists? Considering they seem to implicate NewJeans, ILLIT, and LE SSERAFIM, it doesn't seem like they do."
