First trial verdict for Actor Yoo Ah In on drug charges expected today.
The first trial verdict for actor Yoo Ah In (37, real name Uhm Hong Sik), who has been facing charges of habitual drug use, will be delivered on September 3 KST.
According to the legal community, the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Agreement Division 25 (Chief Judge Ji Gwi Yeon) will announce the verdict at 2 PM for Yoo and his acquaintance, an artist named Choi (33), who have been charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Yoo is accused of habitually administering medical drugs, including propofol, midazolam, remimazolam, and ketamine, for cosmetic procedures under the pretense of sedation, from September 2020 to March 2022, across 14 different hospitals, amounting to 181 instances.
Additionally, he is also accused of illegally obtaining sleeping pills through 44 prescriptions between May 2021 and August 2022.
While Yoo has admitted to the use of propofol, he has maintained that it was prescribed in conjunction with medical procedures.
During the final hearing held in July, the prosecution requested a sentence of four years in prison, a fine of 2 million KRW(approximately 1500 USD), and the forfeiture of approximately 1.5 million KRW(approximately 1100 USD).
