The recent parody on 'SNL Korea' of LE SSERAFIM's Coachella performance has sparked a debate.
In the episode that aired on September 7, actor Kim Sung Kyun, playing the character "Kyun K" of the parody group RICE, reenacted LE SSERAFIM's controversial Coachella performance. The girl group faced criticism after their April performance at the iconic music festival, with some viewers noting their lackluster live vocals.
In response, LE SSERAFIM's Kim Chaewon addressed the situation during a comeback showcase, acknowledging the group's excitement and inability to control their pacing during the performance.
The parody on SNL Korea drew mixed reactions. Some viewers found it to be humorous satire, praising the show for its wit, while LE SSERAFIM fans thought it was insensitive and amounted to mockery.
Furthermore, SNL Korea also parodied a separate controversy involving ZEROBASEONE member Kim Ji Woong, whose alleged use of profanity during a fan sign event in January caused significant backlash. Although his agency denied the claims, the controversy left a negative impact on his reputation.
