Actor Jung Hae In recalled his unforgettable experience at the '2024 Cannes Film Festival'.
On September 12 KST, the actor appeared as a guest on the YouTube show 'Donor Hyeong' hosted by Shin Dong Yup. Fellow FNC Entertainment label mate Yoo Jae Pil also appeared as a co-host on this day, joking, "Jung Hae In is very active at FNC. He attends all of the corporate sports events, and spends 3~4 hours giving advice to his hoobae actors." Hearing this, Jung Hae In commented with a sheepish smile, "Was I on a power trip..?".
Also on this day, Shin Dong Yup mentioned that Jung Hae In's new film, 'Veteran 2', is premiering soon (September 13 in South Korea). When asked about his experiencing premiering the film first at the '77th Cannes Film Festival', Jung Hae In stated, "It was truly like a dream. I couldn't quite process the fact that I was in that place in person. And when they gave the film a standing ovation, it felt really good. Well, it felt good at first. But after about 5 minutes, I thought in my head, 'I think it's okay for them to stop now,' because I didn't want them to continue just out of obligation."
The actor also shared that both Hwang Jung Min and director Ryu Seung Wan were overwhelmed by the applause as well when the applause went on for 10 minutes.
Next, Shin Dong Yup asked, "I heard that the 'Cannes Film Festival' allows actors to invite their families?" Jung Hae In replied, "Yes, I went with my mother. She watched the movie with me, and watched me receive the standing ovation from the front row. She was sobbing the whole time, so I purposely avoided looking at her."
He added on, "Actually, I didn't plan to bring my mother at first. I was going to be there for work with all of my colleagues and staff, and if my mother came along, they would have to be considerate of her. When I explained that to her, she said, 'You're right, it would be selfish of me to go'. But the next day, she came up to me again and said, 'It would be a dream come true if I could go. Who knows if you'll be invited again, and who knows if I'll be in good health by then.' She convinced me with that. It turned out, bringing my mother was one of the best decisions I made in 2024."
