Prosecutors indict rapper Sik-K for drug use without detention.
The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office has indicted rapper Sik-K (real name Kwon Min Sik, 30) without detention after he turned himself in for drug use.
Following a detailed analysis by the National Forensic Service, Sik-K tested positive for methamphetamine and was referred for prosecution without detention on April 18 KST.
Sik-K's legal representatives released a statement in April acknowledging charges of simple possession and use of marijuana but denied the allegations of methamphetamine use. They also clarified that his behavior during his appearance at the police station was not due to drug use but was instead a result of delirium following surgery.
Born in 1994, Sik-K gained fame after appearing on Mnet's 'Show Me the Money 4' in 2015. He later signed with H1GHR MUSIC but established his own music label, KC, last year. KC includes artists such as Kim Ha On, a contestant from Mnet's 'High School Rapper 2'. On June 17 KST, prosecutors announced that Sik-K had been indicted without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Sik-K had approached a police officer near the Seoul Regional Veterans Office in Yongsan District on January 19 at around 8:40 a.m. KST, where he incoherently asked, "Is this the police station?" and confessed to drug use.
