K-pop group LUN8 has made a comeback with a refreshing new song to beat the summer heat.
On the 14th, LUN8 held a media showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their third mini-album, "AWAKENING."
This comeback comes five months after the release of their second mini-album, "BUFF," in March. Jinsoo expressed their determination by saying, "In our previous work, we spent a warm spring together, but this time, we will show a cool and refreshing side during this hot summer."
"AWAKENING" tells the story of LUN8's journey as they awaken to a new reality in the middle of summer, after escaping the game world depicted in their previous work. The album embodies freedom and a cool summer escape, conveying the message, "Let's enjoy this moment without any worries."
Dohyun commented, "This is also the mindset we have for this activity. Let's enjoy this moment freely without any worries." Eunseop added, "If we showed a refreshing side before, this time we aimed to show a hip side. We worked hard to showcase various aspects."
The title track, "WHIP," features Jersey club rhythms and funky sounds, highlighting LUN8's refreshing vocals and free-spirited energy. The song evokes the feeling of riding along with the wind in the blue season. In addition to the title track, the album includes a total of five songs: "Ride," "DELULU," "Love Trailer," and "Life is A Movie."
Eunseop shared insights about "WHIP," saying, "It uses flute sounds and other familiar sounds that stick in your ears. Please focus on the sound when listening."
The performance is also noteworthy, with hip grooves and energetic group choreography. Junwoo mentioned, "We prepared a 'WHIP' challenge, and we hope many people will join us." Eunseop added, "There are many technical performances, so I hope you focus on those. There's a part where we wave our hands, and we tried to make it cute, which I think turned out well."
LUN8, who debuted in June last year, has now reached their one-year mark. Ji Eunho reflected, "It doesn't feel real that we've reached our first anniversary. We want to work hard to show the image of a group that has been together for a year. We held a showcase here a year ago, and it feels nostalgic. As time has passed, we've worked even harder."
Jinsoo recalled, "When we debuted, we focused on enhancing the completeness of what was given to us, but this time, we worked hard to show more than what was given. We had more happy times than difficult ones, especially with the opportunity to meet many fans during our comeback in Japan."
Takuma added, "A year ago, I was very nervous and couldn't show much, but now I feel like I know how to enjoy the stage. I enjoyed this stage as well."
Before their comeback, LUN8 held their first fan meeting, "Hello World," in Japan, where they met their fans. They also performed at various stages, such as "KCON Germany 2024" and "2024 Ulsan Summer Festival," solidifying their presence.
Ji Eunho shared, "We gained energy from our fan meeting in July for this activity." Takuma expressed gratitude, saying, "We are grateful for the love we received from many fans, and we want to do more activities in the future."
Junwoo added, "We received so much love from our Japanese fans, and if we have the opportunity, we want to repay them with even better performances."
As LUN8 embarks on a full-fledged global journey after a successful debut in Japan, they have also set goals for this activity. Eunseop stated, "We want to establish the identity of LUN8 as a group. We want to create an impression that we can handle any genre with our new look."
Dohyun shared his aspirations, "Our goal is to be recognized as a group that can pull off various concepts. By the end of the year, we hope to stand on the awards stage and show great performances."
