Lee Jae Wook showcases his singing skills and shares his journey to becoming an actor on ‘Zico’s Artist’.
On August 30th, KBS2TV’s ‘Zico’s Artist’ featured actor Lee Jae Wook, who captivated viewers by sharing the story of how he became an actor and by showcasing his singing talent.
As Lee Jae Wook introduced himself, the audience responded with enthusiastic cheers. He confessed, “I’m really nervous,” and when asked what he was most worried about, he replied, “I’m really anxious about singing in front of the audience, so please cheer me on so I can do well,” to which Zico responded with an encouraging, “Way to go!”
When asked if being an actor was always his dream, Lee Jae Wook surprised everyone by revealing, “I never imagined being a model or an actor. I had my first audition after entering school, and the director liked me so much that I passed the audition. That’s how I ended up becoming an actor.”
Lee Jae Wook, who was also a member of a hip-hop club in high school, added with a laugh, “I have a certain anger inside me, like a guy who might come out at any moment. The club was called MIC, which is a bit embarrassing.” Speaking about a song he wrote as a student, he mentioned, “I have a song titled ‘Gang.’ Back in high school, I didn’t write love songs. They were typical hip-hop vibes, like ‘Killer.’”
Expressing his love for hip-hop, Lee Jae Wook also shared his plans for an upcoming fan meeting on September 28th, where he plans to perform over ten songs. He remarked, “I have a lot of respect for K-pop artists like Zico. It’s incredible what they do, so I try to listen more diligently.”
The show continued with a duet between Zico and Lee Jae Wook. They performed Primary’s ‘Johnny’ with Zico introducing the song by saying, “Lee Jae Wook is handsome,” to which Lee Jae Wook humorously responded, “Lee Jae Wook, the guy who’s good at acting?” In the final part of the song, Zico’s narration, “Why are you doing this?” was met with Lee Jae Wook’s reply, “Me? Because I’m lonely,” finishing the song in a dramatic style.
Lee Jae Wook then performed Parc Jae Jung’s ‘Let’s Say Goodbye’ and when asked about his future plans, he shared, “My military enlistment is coming up soon, probably next year. I plan to do a lot of activities before I go,” to which Zico encouraged the audience to “cheer loudly for actor Lee Jae Wook’s (singer) debut stage.”
Meanwhile, Lee Jae Wook and Karina publicly confirmed their relationship last February but quickly made headlines again when they announced their breakup just two months later in April.
