Rapper Kanye West made headlines in South Korea after reportedly enjoying a meal worth approximately 800,000 KRW (around $600 USD) at a premium beef restaurant in Seoul without paying.
Kanye West, who performed at the Goyang Sports Complex on August 23, initially announced that his visit would feature a listening party where fans could enjoy his hit songs. However, on the day of the event, he surprised the audience by performing a 150-minute set, including a medley of around 70 songs. The performance even featured some of his early hits, sending Korean fans into a frenzy.
After the successful concert, Kanye West and his entourage visited a restaurant in the Gangnam district on August 26. The group consumed about 800,000 KRW worth of hanwoo (premium Korean beef). However, the restaurant owner, who is a fan of Kanye’s music, generously decided not to charge them for the meal, allowing the rapper to leave without paying.
Kanye’s visit to Korea also included stops at various popular spots in Seoul, such as a toy store in I’Park Mall, Yongsan, and a Starbucks near Hangangjin Station, sparking further buzz among fans and locals alike.
Kanye West, who debuted in 2004 with his album ‘The College Dropout,’ has enjoyed global fame and success throughout his career. His recent concert in Korea attracted a slew of K-pop stars, including 2NE1 members CL and Minzy, Lil Boi, Zion.T, Paloalto, Jeon So Mi, and NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, and Danielle.
