It was recently revealed that Soyeon, the leader of the girl group (G)I-DLE, has lost her grandmother.
On August 5, Soyeon shared her grief on social media, posting, "My first friend, my grandmother. I'm sorry I couldn't be by your side at the end, using the excuse of being busy even though I called you my best friend. When we're born again, let's be the same age and be real friends for a long, long time. I love you, Grandma."
Along with this heartfelt message, Soyeon shared a video showing touching moments from her childhood spent with her grandmother.
On August 3, Soyeon kicked off (G)I-DLE's third world tour at KSPO Dome (Gymnastics Arena) in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
During the concert, Soyeon drew significant attention with her solo performance of 'Is this bad b****** number?' She delivered a powerful and provocative stage, rapping, "Contract ends in November. Who can stop me?" and using strong language like, "Should I care about XX's opinions?"
This performance led to widespread speculation that it might be hinting at (G)I-DLE's possible non-renewal of their contracts, as they are now in their critical 7th year.
There were also rumors suggesting that Soyeon's unexpected behavior was due to unresolved contract negotiations with their agency. In response, a representative from Cube Entertainment clarified on the afternoon of the 5th, saying, "The timing for all members' contract renewals is next year," and "(The lyrics) are just part of the performance."
Following their Seoul concert, (G)I-DLE will continue their world tour, performing in 14 cities worldwide, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Tacoma, Oakland, Anaheim, Houston, Rosemont, Belmont Park, Taipei, Bangkok, Macau, Melbourne, and Sydney.
