On August 29, LE SSERAFIM held a media showcase for their fourth mini-album, 'CRAZY,' a day before the album launch, and we had the opportunity to cover the event.

After posing for the photo session, the HYBE and SOURCE MUSIC girl group took a while to express their thoughts on their comeback before performing "CRAZY" for the first time in front of the press. "We want to show the best version of LE SSERAFIM," said Yunjin. The quintet's leader expressed both their excitement and nervousness returning 6 months after 'EASY.' "We tried our absolute best, and I'm confident that we have succeeded in bringing you something that's going to be refreshing," she added.

Kazuha then said that as they take on a new challenge, showing a "better version of LE SSERAFIM that is even cooler," she hopes that the fans would expect more from them. "When I first heard the tracks, I felt that the music is truly LE SSERAFIM's style. I hope you feel that as well," Sakura shared. Eunchae added, "Because of your love and support while we were on tour, we met a lot of fans. To not disappoint our fans, we put our hearts and souls into this album."

Chaewon
revealed that while working on their third mini-album 'EASY,' they were also working on 'CRAZY' at the same time.

"The message of 'CRAZY' is to just go crazy and have fun with LE SSERAFIM. We hope that it will excite and hype people up. We picked the message first and then we chose the genre that goes well with that message," Yunjin shared.

Their latest album consists of five tracks: "Chasing Lightning," "CRAZY," the title song, "Pierrot," "1-800-hot-n-fun," and "Crazier." The focus track has an EDM-style house genre. "It's our first time doing this," said Sakura.

"It captures the thrill of encountering something that is exhilarating and new. It's a very unique and new type of genre and style," shared Chaewon. "It's going to bring the essence of LE SSERAFIM. It's going to be electrifying. The minute I heard the track, I knew it was something new and fun."

Yunjin also shared her first impression of "CRAZY": "The minute I first heard it, it got me going. It captures our team's energy. It's a great track that can get the crowd going at festivals."

One of the highlights of this return is that Yunjin was the main producer for the last track, "Crazier." It was also revealed that she directed the recording of the song.

Yunjin on working with and the message behind the song: "When we were crafting this album, the producers told me to show them the crazy that I myself resonate with. That's what they told me. I want to convey the message through this track that dedicating yourself to being crazy or even moments of being 'strange' are beautiful moments."

She added, "It's not just about what I feel but it's also about what my bandmates felt. We had a lot of conversations. I think that's why the track feels special to me and the members. I'm happy that I got to know more about myself and my members as well."

On the recording, Kazuha said that it went "very well."

"Yunjin is a sweetheart, but I think she's even nicer when she's directing because she knows us inside and out. She gave us feedback and advice," Sakura added.

Another unique thing that LE SSERAFIM pulled off with this release is that they instilled voguing in "CRAZY"'s choreography. Kazuha said, "This time around, we took a new challenge and tried voguing." "When I first heard the track, we thought that voguing would go well with this song," Eunchae commented.

Yunjin has also come to realize that "it's really important to be expressive [with the dance]." She added, "It's very trendy and it was hard to be as expressive with the genre like that in the beginning. Thankfully, one of our main dancers actually had a lot of experience in voguing, so it helped us a lot." Sakura then chimed in, "Like Kazuha mentioned, it requires a lot of core strength. I definitely agree. We have a lot of muscles. We pride ourselves in being quite fit, but still, it was so difficult."

"Our performance director told us that we have to use our hands as if they're our weapons. We try to remember that direction as we practice every day," Eunchae added.

When asked about some behind-the-scenes stories, Kazuha told the press about their backup dancers for "CRAZY": "In the music video, you'll see these dancers. They're very famous in the U.S., and they flew all the way to Korea, which we are very grateful for. It was great working with them."

Chaewon also shared something about the lightning that penetrated the overall concept of the album. "I just want to share with you a story we had. In our storyboard, there was this scene with lightning. During that day, when we were shooting it, it was actually a nice day, but out of nowhere, there was lightning that struck."

The members also talked about how this album exudes LE SSERAFIM's love and passion as artists. "When you listen to our mini-album, I think you'll get the passion that LE SSERAFIM holds as a team that we are capable of just going into anything," said Kazuha.

Eunchae also wants people to feel that LE SSERAFIM really enjoys and works tirelessly for the work they love.

When asked by the host what they are crazy for, Chaewon answered that they had similar answers and it is that, "All of us are really crazy for our team, LE SSERAFIM, and also what we do as professionals." "It's not just me but all of the members of LE SSERAFIM, we all really love being on stage dancing and singing from a very young age. I think we're just really grateful that we are able to go crazy for something that we like and now we get to do that," Eunchae added. "This album invites you to go crazy together with LE SSERAFIM!"

Diving into the Q&A from the local press, the first question was about their recent 'Coachella' performance, which had mixed reactions. The reporter also asked Eunchae about her recent "controversy."

"About that, I think it was a time when I was very casually talking to my fans. I think I was being too casual. I realized that even when we're close, you have to be more mannerly, you have to talk with more manners. I think I was not mature enough. I'm very sorry to my fans for not being mature enough. I'm going to try my best to be mature enough in the future," she uttered.

Leader Chaewon then took the microphone to give a really mature answer. "Regarding the 'Coachella' performance, there were mixed reactions. Some people were not satisfied with what we did. But as a team and as individuals, it's a fuel for growth and we learned a lot from this performance. Since our debut, we've been on many stages, but that was our first time being on such a big stage. I think we were a little bit too excited. I think we have to calm ourselves. I think that's the part that was lacking in our performance. I'm sure that we can always grow as an artist, and I think it's our homework to show you the best versions of ourselves. Together with our members, we are always saying that we should always try our best to grow as artists and individuals. I think this comeback is our very first step toward that journey."

On the group's first-ever nomination for the 'PUSH Performance of the Year' at the '2024 MTV Video Music Awards,' Chaewon expressed that they are very happy and honored. "It means many people love LE SSERAFIM, and we feel a sense of responsibility to show a better version of ourselves," she added.

Special thanks to HYBE and SOURCE MUSIC for the invite!
