Actor Jung Hae In discussed the efforts he put into preparing for action scenes in his latest film.
The production briefing for the movie 'Veteran 2' (directed by Ryu Seung Wan) was held on August 20 at 11 AM KST at the Yongsan I'Park Mall CGV in Seoul. Actors Hwang Jung Min, Jung Hae In, and director Ryu Seung Wan attended the event.
Jung Hae In talked about his action scenes in the film, saying, "The intensity and density of the action in this project were different from anything I've done before. I realized I needed a lot of practice, and without it, I would have felt frustrated and disappointed with myself even as I read the script. I did a lot of basic physical training. While the action is important, so is stamina. The speed at which you get exhausted after a take or two is quick. This project will be remembered as the one I shot when I was in my healthiest condition," he said with a smile, adding, "I'm totally lucky. I kept my health and the project turned out well."
He also mentioned the water sliding scene featured in the trailer, saying, "It looks like it would grind away at your cartilage, but we filmed it very safely. I thought, 'So this is possible too.' As an actor, you just need a little bit of courage. If you don't flinch and just go for it, you're fine, but if you get scared even though it's safe, that's when you can actually get hurt. The scene turned out really well, and I'm satisfied with it."
Director Ryu Seung Wan then commented on Jung Hae In's action performance, saying, "I’d give him a 9.99 out of 10. I only deducted 0.01 because he's too fast." He added, "There were times when I had to ask him to slow down because his movements were so quick. Once, his technique was so effective that his opponent almost lost his breath. I told him, 'Why are you doing this? This is a movie, you're supposed to act.' His body is like a rock. When I touched his arm, I was shocked. I realized how well he manages himself. While his dedication and practice are commendable, his intense focus at times led me to deduct that 0.01%."
Veteran 2 is an action crime thriller about veteran detective Seo Do Chul (played by Hwang Jung Min), who relentlessly pursues bad guys. He teams up with rookie detective Park Sun Woo (played by Jung Hae In) as they track down a serial killer causing havoc. The movie is set to be released on September 13 KST.
