The YouTube channel "Psik University," which previously faced criticism for derogatory comments about Yeongyang County, has donated 50 million won (approximately 39,000 US dollars) worth of goods to aid the region after recent heavy rains caused significant damage.

On July 17, Psik University announced, "Upon hearing the news of the heavy rains in Yeongyang County, we donated 50 million won worth of goods to the Yeongyang County Office. We hope this contribution provides some comfort to the residents affected by the sudden downpour."

The donation includes essential household items such as refrigerators, washing machines, fans, rice cookers, and televisions, which were identified as urgently needed by families struggling after the flood. The Yeongyang County Office expressed gratitude, stating, "Given the current situation, it is impossible to accept cash donations, so we are very thankful for the contribution of goods. We appreciate the concern and support shown."

Psik University, run by comedians Jung Jae-hyung, Kim Min-su, and Lee Yong-joo, faced backlash in May for comments made in their "Made in Gyeongsang-do" series, which were seen as disparaging towards the region. During the video, the comedians made critical remarks about local foods and made inappropriate comments about an elderly woman, leading to significant controversy.

Following the backlash, Psik University deleted the video and issued an apology. The apology stated, "We sincerely apologize to the bakery, the restaurant owners, the residents of Yeongyang, the public officials working in Yeongyang, and the Korea Electric Power Corporation employees for any harm caused by our comments. We will strive to show a more mature Psik University moving forward."

After pausing their uploads for about two months, Pisik University resumed posting videos on July 9. However, the controversy had a lasting impact, with their subscriber count dropping from 3.18 million to 2.91 million as of July 17.
