On the July 3 broadcast of MBC's 'Radio Star', Oh My Girl's Seunghee caused shock by confessing that she has been single-handedly supporting her family for the past 10 years.
On this episode, Seunghee revealed, "I became a workaholic because of money. I am currently supporting my family, which is why I've lived a clean life with no dating scandals in the past 10 years."
She continued, "There were family debts, which I paid off, and I was able to buy my parents a house and land. I believe that I'm doing it out of love for my family. I don't think it's waste to hand over everything I earn to them."
Hearing this, fellow guest Ock Joo Hyun asked, "Who is managing your bank accounts?". When Seunghee replied, "My mother," Ok Joo Hyun shook her head furiously, saying, "No, no, no."
The veteran singer then added on, "Managing your own accounts is the most essential step to achieving economic independence as an adult."
Host Kim Gu Ra also advised, "It's not that it's wrong to have your parents manage all of your money, but at your age, I think it would be best to manage your own accounts, and give your parents generous allowance."
Both Kim Gu Ra and Ock Joo Hyun agreed, "Not having accounts in your name is like denying that you ever made that income." Ock Joo Hyun then assured Seunghee, "This was the same exact advice that I received from my sunbaenims when I was your age."
Finally, when asked how she spends on money on herself, Seunghee muttered, "Imported clothes?". Shaking her head once again, Ock Joo Hyun said to her hoobae idol, "Seunghee, let's talk in private later."
