Artists under SM Entertainment are struggling with malicious rumors. SM Entertainment has announced that they will take strong legal action without leniency or settlement against criminal acts that defame their artists, regardless of nationality.
Recently, rumors about the personal lives of NCT members Johnny and Haechan have surfaced online. Claims that they were involved in activities at entertainment establishments, prostitution, and drug use have spread, also dragging Kim Hee Chul into the controversy.
As these malicious posts spread uncontrollably, Kim Hee Chul personally clarified on a paid communication platform, stating, "I have never had a meal or drink with our company juniors outside, nor have I ever met them. I don't even have their contact numbers."
Following this, SM Entertainment communicated via the fan platform KWANGYA, saying, "Online, there are rampant and unfounded rumors about Johnny and Haechan engaging in prostitution, drug use, and other unmentionable activities. Upon verification, these claims are completely false and constitute criminal acts that severely damage the artists' reputations. We have already gathered sufficient evidence on numerous posts and will ensure those responsible are legally punished without leniency or settlement, regardless of their nationality."
SM emphasized, "Please be aware that any malicious posts made at this moment can be subject to legal punishment."
Fans have welcomed SM's firm stance, expressing relief that the agency is actively protecting their artists.
Previously, SM also announced plans for large-scale legal action both domestically and internationally against those spreading false information, malicious attacks, insults, and slander against BoA.
SM stated they are actively considering requesting investigation cooperation and filing complaints overseas as well. "We will continue to select targets for lawsuits among those who persist in posting malicious comments and proceed with additional lawsuits. We will ensure they are legally punished without leniency or settlement."

Is it just me, or has "malicious rumors" against more-or-less all idols been increasing a lot recently? Like I know, netizens have always been toxic, but lately the hate has been spiraling out of control? Idk, it just feels like these kinds of articles have been showing up more and more as of late. Too much negativity.
