The top group Seventeen and K-pop's leading girl group TWICE have each achieved the highest revenue among K-pop boy and girl groups in the global concert market over the past six months.
According to Billboard's semi-annual Boxscore report (covering October 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024) released on the 30th of last month (local time), Seventeen ranked the highest among K-pop artists.
During the reporting period, Seventeen attracted approximately 552,000 spectators over 18 performances, generating ticket sales of $67.5 million (about 93.4 billion KRW).
Last year, Seventeen demonstrated their ticket power by holding their largest-ever five-dome tour in Japan since their debut, followed by stadium tours in Bangkok, Bulacan, and Macau. Including fan meetings and online live streaming audiences, Seventeen met over 1 million fans, known as 'CARATs,' throughout the year.
TWICE ranked 46th in the survey, the only Asian female artist to make the chart.
TWICE, who performed at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, USA, in March, solidified their position as a 'stadium girl group.' Through five performances as part of their fifth world tour 'Ready to Be,' they attracted 220,000 fans, known as 'ONCE,' generating $24.2 million (about 33.5 billion KRW) in revenue.
On the 25th and 26th of last month, SEVENTEEN performed for two days at Nissan Stadium, Japan's largest venue, drawing 144,000 spectators. TWICE will take the same stage on July 27-28.
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN attracted about 198,000 fans during the semi-annual report period through their second world tour 'FATE' and 'FATE in Seoul,' generating ticket sales of $35.5 million (about 49 billion KRW) and ranking 34th in the survey.
Additionally, HYBE ranked 7th in the 'Top Promoter' category, the only Korean company to make the 'Top 10,' including performances by Seventeen, ENHYPEN, and TXT.
HYBE noted, "The achievement is even more significant considering that all top 1-6 companies specialize in concerts, festivals, and events."
The top spot in this survey went to the world-renowned Irish rock band U2, which generated $230 million (about 318.5 billion KRW) from 38 performances. The band's residency at 'The Sphere,' a newly opened venue in Las Vegas last September, was instrumental.
American pop stars Pink and Madonna ranked 2nd and 3rd, respectively, each generating slightly over $190 million (about 263 billion KRW) in the past six months.
American pop superstar Taylor Swift, who is creating a global concert phenomenon with her world tour 'The Eras Tour,' did not submit data for this report and was excluded from the tally.
Twice’s hard work and longevity is no joke. They’ve been touring almost nonstop since the pandemic restrictions were lifted.
