On June 16, MAMAMOO member and solo artist Solar held her solo show in Manila, Philippines at the Theater at Solaire, as part of her second solo concert tour, 'COLOURS.'
This Solar solo show follows MAMAMOO's full-house 'MYCON' concert at the Araneta Coliseum in February last year. "I'm really happy and thankful that I was able to come back," she said.
The singer kicked off the night with "Colors," "Raw," and "Spit It Out" as the show's opening. She then segued into the "Honey" series after a small talk, which featured her performances of "Mellow," "Honey Honey," "Honey Bee," and "Honey" filling the stage with her sweetness.
"Because of my fans, I'm getting more strength. We go through a lot of difficulties. Whenever I go through one, there's something I want to tell you. Do you know what it is?" she asked. "Life is easy peasy lemon squeezy."
"You're my honey," Solar told her fans.
The artist’s dynamic vocal prowess shone throughout the nearly 3-hour set, particularly in "Love Has Gone," "Blues" and "Empty" where she delivered impressive high notes.
The concert's setlist also includes "Where The Wind Rises," "Easy Peasy," "Hello," "Only Longing Grows," "Big Booty," and "But," among others.
Not only did the show captivate everyone by eyes and ears, but it was also a fun-filled one, eliciting laughter whenever Solar took the stage for small talk.
At one point, the fans chanted, "Comeback," eager for a MAMAMOO comeback. "For the MAMAMOO album... I'm not sure since I can't be the only one to release it," she said with a laugh. "Since the fans are waiting for it desperately, I will try my best [to make this happen]."
Another highlight is the VCR playing Solar's covers of "Crazy In Love," "Candyman," "Chandelier," and "Oops!... I Did It Again." She served vocals, but the audience couldn't also stop smiling and laughing at her silliness in the videos. "I'm so proud because my fans love it (the VCR) so much," she relayed.
The fans also prepared a surprise video for Solar that was played towards the end of the event. "I'm a bit teary because I didn't know Manila fans would prepare for this kind of event," she said. "The videos were back even before I was a trainee. I actually didn't know what to do, but..." she shared, sparking laughter from the crowd.
"Looking at these videos, I'm really really thankful! I'm not the kind of person to cry, but my eyes were teary so I had to hold it in," she said. "I think it might look embarrassing so I had to hold it in."
June 18, 2014 was when MAMAMOO debuted. Two days before their 10th anniversary, Solar brought her solo show to Manila and she's grateful to be able to spend time with the fans in this meaningful year. "I guess the only way is to repay you with the best stages."
"Last year, we had an opportunity to meet. I was happy to meet you guys again this year," she said.
"During 'MYCON' last time, after the concert, there were lots of feelings left behind," she shared. "During that time, you were cheering for us enthusiastically. So, after the concert, not only me but the members... we couldn't believe it."
Solar's 'COLOURS' in Manila was presented by O.N Worldwide and Three Angles Production.
