Ahreum has responded to the allegations of child abuse.
According to reports by Sports Kyunhyang on June 4, former T-ara member Ahreum refuted the claims that she was sent to prosecution on charges of child abuse. She explained, "That's nonsense. I've never received any notification about being sent to prosecution for child abuse." She added, "My first child said they were abused by their father so I took them with me. I was in the process of being investigated with my child."
She continued, "I thoroughly underwent a police investigation regarding this. At that time, the investigators sided with me," and expressed her frustration.
Regarding the allegations that she fabricated the child abuse claims against her ex-husband, she denied that she had fabricated the recording and shared, "The child repeatedly said they were being assaulted by their father, so I turned on the recorder. The recorded content was only a part of it. And it was never staged. The child spoke on their own free will."
On June 3, the Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they had sent Ahreum to the prosecution on charges of child abuse, child abandonment and neglect, and kidnapping and enticing a minor. Ahreum's mother was also sent to the prosecution on charges of kidnapping and enticing a minor.
Additionally, it was reported that there is an analysis suggesting that Ahreum had influenced her children, directly leading them to fabricate their testimony.
In response, Ahreum came forward in an interview, stating she had never received any notification of being referred to the prosecution and is currently hospitalized, completely refuting the report.
Meanwhile, Ahreum married her ex-husband in 2019 and had two children. However, she revealed last December that she had initiated a divorce lawsuit.
