Former Hello Venus member Yoo Ara opened up about her cancer diagnosis.
On June 11, Ara shared the below image and message on Instagram, reassuring her fans. She expressed, "Hello, this is Yoo Ara. I hope you're all well. I'm writing this because I'm afraid some people might think I'm dead..."
She continued, "All of a sudden, I was often tired, and my condition worsened. I took a test, and I was diagnosed with cancer. I was told I needed surgery, so we had an emergency procedure. I'm not recovering and taking medicine. I've gotten a lot better. As some of you may know, it wasn't easy to get in touch with me."
Ara further shared her feelings, saying, "I felt bad because some people were disappointed. I hope those around me and those who love me will understand. I'm going to do my best not to be stressed and recuperate this year. I hope you all stay healthy and always beware of the cold. Be careful of the summer heat, and I'll do my best to update you all often."

Sad news of her condition, for newer fans, Yoo Ara was THE most anticipated name before she debuted, prospect After School member (even featured on a few of their songs with them) and known as an all-around Ace plus super elegant beauty. Pledis was able to scout great talents back in the early 2010 with her, Yoonjo, Xiyeon, Kaeun, some others, but unfortunately were terrible at managing their artists other than Dambi and Kahi-led After School. After Yoonjo and Yoo Ara were forced to withdraw from Hello Venus as Pledis pulled its investments, its a shame they never debuted with some of the younger After School members in a new group
