Byun Woo Seok, the star behind the 'Lovely Runner' craze, sat down for an interview at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul on June 3 KST. Despite it being his third day of media interviews, Byun Woo Seok answered questions with sincerity and a bright smile, showcasing his charm.

'Lovely Runner' is based on a web novel  and tells the story of Lim Sol (played by Kim Hye Yoon), who struggles to save the famous artist Ryu Seon Jae (played by Byun Woo Seok). Byun Woo Seok portrays Ryu Seon Jae, the lead vocalist of the top band Eclipse, with his confident visuals and the allure of a high school first love, igniting the 'Seonjae fever' among viewers.

Byun Woo Seok commented, "I've always liked romantic comedy genres, and I loved this work because it portrays love as sacrificing everything for the other person. Isn't my character like Noah from 'The Notebook'?" He had previously mentioned the Noah character during an interview for the 2022 Netflix film '20th Century Girl'.

When asked about his actual dating style, he replied, "I'm the type to get deeply involved emotionally with the other person," drawing similarities to Ryu Seon Jae.

Referring to a past interview where he discussed his ideal type, Byun Woo Seok said, "External appearance actually changes all the time. It's more important to have compatible personalities. Good conversation is key." When teased by the interviewers for his somewhat conventional response, he chuckled and emphasized, "But it's true. Conversation is crucial." 

When asked to share one more aspect besides the universally loved ideal type, Byun Woo Seok hesitated for about 10 seconds before saying, "I prefer someone who doesn't swear," adding, "It sounds a bit silly, but I like someone who speaks nicely."
