Apink Eunji's alleged stalker is facing her appeal trial next month.
According to legal circles on June 7 KST, the appeal trial of the woman in her 50s accused of stalking the Apink member for several years will resume in July. The Seoul Central District Court will reportedly hold their first appeal trial for 'A', who's been charged with violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment on July 9.
In the first trial, 'A' was sentenced to 1 year in prison with a 2-year probation, and she was also additionally fined 100,000 won ($72.58 USD). 'A' was also placed under protective supervision, ordered to perform 120 hours of community service, and attend 40 hours of classes on preventing stalking crimes.
'A' was indicted for sending a total of 544 text messages to Eunji of Apink since March of 2020, including messages asking, "Would you accept me as your servant, your companion?" She also faces charges of following Eunji's car from the KBS headquarters in May of 2020 to a hair and makeup shop in Gangnam, Seoul, using her own motorcycle. In July of 2021, 'A' was found lurking at the entrance of the apartment where Eunji resided.
During the first trial, the court found, "The content of the messages sent by the defendant to the victim exceeded the level of support, interest, and affection that a fan might express to a celebrity they like."
Stay tuned for updates.
