Zico is currently under fire for a racist slur in his 2010 rap track "If I Ain't Got Jjanggae".
Recently, a number of posts on various Chinese online communities, including Weibo, have been criticizing Zico's 2010 track "If I Ain't Got Jjanggae", a parody of the Alicia Keys' song "If I Ain't Got You" that was included as a bonus track on his mixtape 'Zico on the Block'. The lyrics are about Zico, who was a trainee at the time, expressing his boredom over only ordering Chinese food every day.
However, Chinese netizens are criticizing his lyrics that say, "I hate jjanggae. I'm full again today, but I'm not full at all. I feel bloated... I'm going to become Chinese," as well as his use of the term "jjanggae," which is a derogatory term for Chinese people.
In the aftermath, Zico's social media has been full of vomit emojis and malicious comments seemingly left by Chinese netizens.
In other news, Zico celebrated his 10th anniversary as a solo artist, and he released his digital single "SPOT!" featuring BLACKPINK's Jennie, which swept domestic and international music charts.
