YouTuber Sojang, who has been accused of making billions of won by creating videos based on malicious rumors about celebrities, was spotted on her way to the court for her trial against Kang Daniel.
On May 27th, the Seoul Central District Court held a hearing for Sojang (last name Park), accused of defamation and slander. She was sued for defaming Kang Daniel with false information on her YouTube channel back in 2022. Sojang was spotted in the media for the first time on her way to the court as she has been making videos without revealing her identity.
According to Dispatch who captured her in front of the court, Sojang replied she is operating an online shopping mall. Dispatch reported that Sojang refused to answer any other questions while blocking her face with a wig she wore to the trial.
During the trial, Sojang's side admitted to making and posting the said video but claimed that she genuinely believed the content was true. Previously, Sojang lost the first trial against IVE's Wonyoung for defamation. She was then ordered to pay 100 million won to Wonyoung after losing the suit. The court also seized her assets totaling almost 200 million won ($146,337.89 USD), including real estate and deposit bonds. The reasoning behind the seizure is to prevent Sojang from possibly fleeing before her sentence hearing.
