Trot singer Kim Ho Joong, currently under police investigation for a hit-and-run incident, was found to have delayed his appearance at the police station despite multiple requests from authorities. Gangnam Police Station in Seoul confirmed Kim as the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident, which occurred on May 9 KST around 11:40 PM KST, where a white SUV collided with a taxi in Apgujeong-dong.
The police attempted to contact Kim Ho Jeong via text messages and calls to request his presence but received no response. Eventually, Kim's manager turned himself in about two hours after the accident, claiming to be the driver and even wearing the clothes Kim had worn at the time of the incident.
Kim finally arrived at the police station around 4:30 PM the following day, approximately 17 hours after the accident, and underwent a breathalyzer test, which yielded negative results. After police interrogation, Kim belatedly admitted to being the driver.
Authorities suspect that Kim may have been driving under the influence and are conducting further investigations. Charges are being considered against the manager for falsely surrendering himself, while measures such as a compulsory investigation to locate the missing black box memory card of Kim's vehicle are being contemplated.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Kim's agency, Think Entertainment, stated that scheduled performances would proceed as planned, emphasizing their commitment to protecting the artist.
