Trot Singer Kim Ho-joong Shares His Thoughts: 'There's No Point in Talking Much When You're Guilty'
Trot singer Kim Ho-joong has left a heartfelt message on his fan cafe after admitting to drunk driving ten days after the incident.
On the 19th, Kim Ho-joong finally admitted to drunk driving. His agency, Think Entertainment, issued an apology the same day: "We sincerely apologize for causing public concern due to the controversy surrounding our artist, Kim Ho-joong, and our poor judgment. From the initial official statement to now, we were focused on hiding the situation. We sincerely apologize for not acting truthfully. Kim Ho-joong voluntarily appeared before the police, admitted to drunk driving, and will cooperate fully with the investigation."
Kim Ho-joong also issued a personal apology, stating, "I want to express my sincere apologies for causing hurt and disappointment to many people due to my momentary poor judgment. I did drive under the influence. I deeply regret and reflect on my actions. I will sincerely cooperate with the police investigation."
In a lengthy message, Kim Ho-joong apologized to his fans, saying, "I am truly sorry for hurting the pride of our Aris family with this incident. I know very well that one should never drive after drinking, even a single sip. It's painful to see so many family members suffering because of my foolish decision. One should understand such things without having to experience them directly, but my foolishness disgusts me."
Kim Ho-joong added, "What's the point of a guilty person talking at length? Once the investigation is over and all results are out, I will return home. I sincerely apologize and will reflect deeply. To avoid betraying our family's dreams, I think the only thing I can do is live diligently."
Kim Ho-joong is under investigation for hitting an oncoming car and fleeing the scene around 11:40 p.m. KST on the 9th in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. At that time, a 30-year-old man named Mr. A, Kim Ho-joong's manager, went to the police wearing the clothes Kim Ho-joong had worn during the accident and falsely claimed responsibility. Kim Ho-joong did not respond to the police's request to appear but turned himself in 17 hours after the accident.
Kim Ho-joong initially denied drunk driving, but finally admitted to it ten days after the incident.
