Actor Son Seok-goooo is set to star in the upcoming short film 'Night Fishing', directed by Moon Byung. CGV announced that the thriller, which runs approximately 13 minutes, will be exclusively shown on their screens starting next month on the 14th. Alongside the announcement, the first poster and the main trailer were released, setting the tone and narrative of the film.
The poster presents a sinister atmosphere, depicting the protagonist, played by Son Seok-gu, sitting inside a car in the dark, seemingly waiting for something, hinting at the thriller elements of the film. 'Night Fishing' revolves around a mysterious incident that occurs at an electric vehicle charging station at night. It is directed by Moon Byung-gon, who won the Palme d'Or for Short Films at the 66th Cannes Film Festival in 2013 with his film 'Safe'.
Despite its brief runtime of just 12 minutes and 59 seconds, the film aims to deliver a quick and enjoyable experience, akin to 'snack movies'. Another unique aspect of 'Night Fishing' is its cinematography, which is composed entirely from the perspectives of the front, rear, and side cameras of a car. Jo Hyung-rae, known for his work on films like 'The Merciless' and 'Concrete Utopia', contributed to the cinematography.
Son Seok-gu not only stars in the film but also participated in its co-production. Distributors tease that he will showcase a one-man action performance as he tries to "catch something mysterious" and will exhibit his sharp charisma.
'Night Fishing' will screen from the 14th to 16th and again from the 21st to 23rd of next month at 15 CGV theaters nationwide. Ticket prices are set at 1,000 won. The film is a joint production between Son Seok-gu’s production company, Stanum, and Hyundai Motors.
I have been enjoying this man work since Sense 8. Hope he continues to have success.
