Pledis Entertainment refused to comment on questions about fromis_9's alleged lack of payment for over 6 years.
Previously, fromis_9 member Jiwon expressed she wished to receive her first pay by the end of the year, and it's led to speculation and questions about the girl group's alleged lack of pay. fromis_9 debuted in January of 2018 after forming through the Mnet idol survival program 'Idol School'. In August of 2021, fromis_9 signed new contracts when their management was transferred from Off The Record Entertainment to Pledis Entertainment.
Fans and netizens questioned whether Jiwon had meant her first pay of 2024, while others were shocked fromis_9 had yet to receive any payment for their activities despite being in their 7th year since debut. fromis_9 are also known to have a strong fandom that sells out their concerts and other events.
When asked to respond to the issue, Pledis Entertainment declined to comment, stating they had no particular position on the matter.
Member Chaeyoung also spoke up on May 7, saying she was saddened the girl group was not promoting any music. On the controversy over Chaeyoung's remarks, Pledis stated, "We're smoothly preparing for fromis_9's comeback. They'll show various activities, including music and special photo exhibitions this year."

The members have already spoken about buying stuff for their families after getting their pay in the past before. Though the issue of long comebacks not changing for the better after officially becoming part of PLEDIS, lack of interactions with other artists in HYBE, lack of promotions and special music videos especially after the superb full album UNLOCK MY WORLD last June, the stoppage of their YT content CHANNEL_9, the lack of contents uploaded to their YT channel since early last year are all burning questions flovers has as well.
