Iconic pop star Pharrell Williams has participated as a songwriter and composer for NewJeans' Japanese debut single.
According to their agency ADOR, on the 13th, Pharrell Williams was credited in NewJeans' Japanese debut single 'Supernatural' and its title track of the same name.
'Supernatural' features a melody that evokes nostalgia for the past and blends exquisitely with the emotional vocals of the members.
ADOR explained the song's production: "Pharrell Williams revisited his iconic ad-libs and bridge from the 2009 collaboration 'Back of My Mind' with Japanese singer Manami, which producer 250 has reinterpreted in a New Jack Swing style."
Pharrell Williams, best known for his mega-hit song 'Happy', is a multiple Grammy-winning global singer and producer. He is also actively involved as a fashion designer and exerts significant influence across popular culture.
NewJeans' Japanese debut single 'Supernatural' will be released next month on the 21st. The single includes the title track, another song 'Right Now', and instrumental versions of each track, making a total of four tracks. 'Right Now' garnered attention when it was partially released on the 9th as a commercial song for the Lotte ZERO advertisement.
Previously, NewJeans announced collaborations with cultural and artistic masters such as Takashi Murakami and Hiroshi Fujiwara, raising expectations for an unprecedented debut in Japan. Moreover, the scale of their activities, including a fan meeting at the Tokyo Dome upon their Japanese debut, has drawn significant attention.
Meanwhile, NewJeans is set to make a comeback in Korea first on the 24th. The music video for 'Bubble Gum', a track from the pre-released double single 'How Sweet' last month, topped YouTube Korea's weekly popular music video chart for two consecutive weeks and maintained a high position on the global weekly charts, demonstrating NewJeans' global influence and impact, even before the official release of the song.
So they're just using his sample, he didn't actually work on the song? I'm a bit confused by the phrasing, but anyway that's interesting, excited to see what they do
