NewJeans's Minji recently expressed frustration with the younger generation using newly coined phrases that are incomprehensible.
In a recent live stream, Minji shared, "My younger sister is in middle school, but she says 'That's skrr' for anything and everything. What is 'Skrr'? what is 'This is skrr?' 'That's skrr?' What is it? That's such an MZ thing. I don't understand. Is it the 'Skrr skrr' that I know?"
She went on to express her concerns about the younger generation having a limited vocabulary and narrow range of language expression. She explained, "I feel our range of expressing language is becoming narrower... It's my younger sister too so I am worried."
Meanwhile, 'Skrr' is a newly coined term embraced by the younger generation to signify something trendy or cool. Originating from the rhythmic sound 'Skrr Skrr' prevalent in hip-hop culture, it has swiftly gained popularity among the youth.
Korean netizens agreed and shared:
"Minji is really Skrr."
"Minji is so smart."
"Minji sounds so mature and what she says is so true."
"Skrr."
"She's so cute."
"That's such an MZ thing~ lol."
"Minji's face is Skrr."
"I love that Minji is so kind, and smart, and I love her voice."
"The way she thinks is so cool."

Lol, the evolution of language in action. You know you're getting older when you start complaining about not understanding the language the 'younger generation' are using.
