Yesterday on May 17 KST, the 50th civil court division of the Seoul Central District Court convened for a hearing in the ongoing legal dispute between HYBE Labels and CEO Min Hee Jin of ADOR.
During this court hearing, Min Hee Jin's side, represented by Sejong Law Firm, revealed the contents of an email sent by Min Hee Jin to HYBE executives in early April, addressing several complaints in HYBE's operation structure.
One part of the email, detailing Min Hee Jin's complaints about ILLIT copying the ADOR girl group NewJeans, stated,
"Not only ILLIT, but LE SSERAFIM also became embroiled in plagiarism allegations over their music and concepts three times. According to overseas producer working with ADOR, HYBE is currently negotiating fees for plagiarism damages over certain LE SSERAFIM songs."
A day after this news made headlines, netizens believe that they've discovered the song involved in the plagiarism negotiations - "Cliché" by American musician Velous, released in 2017.
Numerous netizens are of the opinion that this song sounds "exactly like" LE SSERAFIM's "Easy".
Netizens commented, "These are literally the same songs", "It's more like they remixed the original song", "Everything from the beat, the flow, the key verse, and even the beginning is exactly the same", "I can sing 'Easy' to that song without a problem", "Excuse me sir, how much did you ask from HYBE for plagiarism?", and more.
