Rapper Sik-K, whose real name is Kwon Min-sik, has been identified as the 30-year-old rapper who voluntarily reported himself to the police for drug use this January.
According to a Ten Asia report, which confirmed details with police sources, Sik-K's admission marked a rare instance of self-disclosure among celebrities, initially sparking widespread curiosity about the identity of the involved artist.
At the time of his surrender, Sik-K was reportedly disoriented, asking, "Is this the police station?" which led to his being taken to a local police station for protective measures. Subsequent investigations and detailed forensic analysis by the National Forensic Service confirmed a positive reaction for cannabis. Consequently, Sik-K was sent to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office with a recommendation for indictment on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, although he was not detained.
Sik-K had been active in the music scene until recently, releasing a new album in February and being scheduled to perform at the "Hip Hop Playa Festival" on May 4. Despite currently being listed in the promotional lineup, his participation might lead to controversy given the charges against him.
His legal representative explained that Sik-K had surrendered himself for possession and consumption of cannabis, and clarified that his disoriented state was due to lack of sleep after being discharged from a hospital, not immediate drug use prior to his police visit. The situation continues to develop as the legal process unfolds and the music industry and fans react to the news of Sik-K’s legal troubles.
He did the 'right thing' under South Korean law and handed himself in, did they really need to reveal his identity?
Its another asshole move by the media and police 🙄
