Shinhwa's Minwoo is rumored to have been gaslighted out of almost $2 million USD.

The rumors began when reports revealed a former famous idol had filed a lawsuit for 2.6 billion won ($1,927,411.72 USD) against TV screenwriter 'B'. According to reports, 'B' has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for gaslighting the idol out of 2.6 billion won by convincing the idol they'll help him get out of sexual harassment accusations. The idol was previously accused of molesting two women, which he's since been found innocent of.

'B' allegedly convinced the idol they knew the prosecutors in the trial and would bribe them on the idol's behalf. After the idol gave 'B' the money in question, 'B' then kept the money for himself. Court documents reveal 'B' did not know the prosecutors at all, and the idol was found innocent of the sexual harassment claims without the help of 'B'. Afterwards, 'B' claimed the prosecutors planned to appeal and fight the innocent judgement, and the idol took out a loan against his home to give money to 'B'. 

The story brought to light Minwoo's previous appearance on a talk show, where he shared he was gaslighted by an acquaintance who stole his money. On the show, the Shinhwa member expressed, "An acquaintance approached me with the intention to steal my money. They had bad intentions and stole all the money I made. I knew the person well, and they also knew my sister. It happened during a difficult time in my life when I wanted to hide. I couldn't help but trust them because they held my hand when everyone abandoned me."

The similarities in stories is leading netizens to speculate the "former famous idol" is in fact Shinhwa's Minwoo.

Along with a 9-year prison sentence, 'B' has been ordered to pay 2.6 billion won in restitution.
