According to data from the Netflix TOP 10 website on May 1 KST, tvN's weekend drama 'Queen of Tears' achieved a remarkable milestone by claiming the second spot in Netflix's global TOP 10 TV series rankings in the (non-English) category. The drama garnered an impressive 4.1 million views from April 22-28, marking its eighth consecutive week in the top 10.
Surpassing its previous second-place ranking from the week before, 'Queen of Tears' continued its reign of popularity, particularly in nine countries, including Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Additionally, it earned a spot in the top 10 in 41 countries worldwide, underscoring its widespread appeal and massive fan base.
'Queen of Tears' tells the gripping tale of Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won), the third-generation heiress of the Queen's Group conglomerate, and Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo Hyun), the son of a supermarket magnate. The series concluded its 16-episode run on April 28 KST, concluding with a heartwarming ending that saw the protagonists overcoming various challenges to build a family together.
Despite criticisms of improbable plot developments such as memory loss and accidents, the passionate performances of lead actors Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won resonated deeply with audiences, contributing to the drama's immense popularity. The final episode achieved a remarkable rating of 24.9%, solidifying its status as tvN's highest-rated drama in history.

I hope its success doesn't make the writer think that that audience loves this kinda 2000s day time soap opera plot, everyone stayed for thr cast. Their chemistry (not just between the leads, all the side character too) make this drama a compelling watch but the use of trope after trope was just ugh
