In the Korean music industry, K-pop has established itself as the major genre, with idol groups dominating various music programs.
In the overall Korean music scene, certain moments stand out as turning points that reshaped the music program landscapes and the public's perception. One such moment was the broadcast accident involving the indie band Rux, where the members began to disrobe on a live broadcast stage.
Back in July 2005, the indie band was able to earn a spot in a major music program on MBC and was able to get some "public exposure." Since it was a "difficult spot" to earn on a major music program, one band member decided to leave a lasting impression by getting completely naked on stage at the end of their performance.
On April 16, 2024, this moment was revisited by Korean netizens in a popular online community as the moment that changed the indie scene in Korea, making it more difficult for indie bands to earn exposure on public broadcasts. Not only that, some netizens pointed out that music programs adapted the pre-recording system due to this live broadcast incident.
Korean netizens commented, "I think this was why the pre-recording for music programs began," "I saw this during the live broadcast (without the censors)," "Dang," "I was so shocked when I saw this during the live broadcast," "This was the moment they killed the Korean indie scene," "They totally ruined it for other indie bands," "I think major broadcast shows never invited indie bands after this incident," "This was so crazy," "I really didn't get why they did that," "Wow, that pissed me off," "Stupidity at its finest," "The K-rock was killed completely with this performance," "They ruined it for all K-rock bands," "Did they even get punished for what they did?" "Geez," "I feel bad for the producer who worked hard to get them that opportunity," "I remember the camera guy was so flustered and didn't know what to do, lol," and "They blew such a golden opportunity."

Love how the audience was stunned silent at the end. I can understand the need for prerecording. Stripping off on camera, during a live performance would get you banned in any country, a whole genre wouldn't be banned from performing though.
