The specific details of the reason Kim Sae Ron pulled out from the play 'Dongchimi' have been revealed.
On April 18, a production team official for 'Dongchimi' further elaborated that the reason Kim Sae Ron decided to pull out from the play was not because of the negative opinions about the actress.
The official explained, "The production team decided not to continue the play production with Kim Sae Ron due to her physical condition. She had weak stamina so we've been discussing whether she would continue with us or not." The official continued, "We made the final decision yesterday (April 17). We hope that there are no more speculative articles regarding this issue."
According to the report, Kim Sae Ron did her best to prepare for her role in the play 'Dongchimi' even going on a retreat with the production team and cast members. The official concluded by saying, "The actress (Kim Sae Ron) really put in much effort. It's unfortunate that she was unable to continue with us due to her health."
Following the news of Kim Sae Ron's departure from the play 'Dongchimi,' there were speculations that she had pulled out due to the negative public opinion about her return.
In May 2022, near the Hakdong Intersection in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Kim Sae Ron was arrested for drunk driving. She had collided with guardrails and trees multiple times, violating the Road Traffic Act. Despite a police request to measure her blood alcohol level at the scene, she refused. A subsequent blood test at a nearby hospital revealed her blood alcohol content to be 0.2%, which is a level warranting license revocation.
In April, the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Division 4 fined Kim Sae Ron 20 million KRW (~14,507 USD). Neither Kim Sae Ron nor the prosecution appealed the decision, confirming the initial verdict.
