Many netizens are raising their voices of criticism toward HYBE Labels for the seemingly "deliberate" timing of the release of BTS member RM's 2nd solo album, 'Right Place, Wrong Person'.
The official announcement for RM's 2nd solo album was made on April 26 KST, surprising many fans due to the fact that RM is currently away carrying out his mandatory service duties. The new album, completed prior to RM's enlistment, will be released on May 24 at midnight EST / 1 PM KST.
But upon hearing the news, some netizens couldn't help but question whether or not HYBE's actions reflected the statements made by the company just days earlier, promising to "provide full support so that NewJeans' comeback plans will not be affected by recent events."
Many pointed out that the release of NewJeans' new single album, 'How Sweet', was announced much earlier on March 26, and they could not come up with a reason why it would be beneficial for HYBE to schedule the release of RM's 'Right Place, Wrong Person' on the same date and time as the release of 'How Sweet', May 24 at midnight EST / 1 PM KST.
Some netizens reacted with comments like,
"Typical HYBE behavior. Whenever they're in a pinch, they pull out the BTS card to save themselves."
"How strange to see artists under the same company competing against each other."
"Announcing it right now? Makes it really hard for anyone to believe it was a coincidence..."
"It literally looks like HYBE played the BTS card to prevent NewJeans from doing well this comeback."
"HYBE those b******s. BTS is not your shield. Stop using them whenever you're in trouble and give them the proper promotions they deserve. There's no way releasing the album at the same time as NewJeans is beneficial for RM."
"They think it's some smart move to get in the way of NewJeans, but all it's doing is getting in the way of Namjoon and ARMYs!"
"They're trying so hard to force ARMYs into the fight, oh like hell we'll support ungrateful HYBE."
It's great that RM is releasing an album but announcing it on the same day as NJ announced theirs was a nasty move on HYBE's part.
