MBC's new Fri-Sat drama 'Chief Detective 1958' has successfully attracted massive attention with its first episode.
The first episode of 'Chief Detective 1958', which premiered on April 19 KST, recorded an average viewership rating of 10.1%, according to Nielsen Korea. The highest rating of the episode peaked at 12.4%. This marks the highest average viewership rating recorded by any Fri-Sat drama to air on MBC, an impressive feat.
'Chief Detective 1958', starring Lee Jae Hoon, Lee Dong Hwi, and more, serves as a prequel story to the classic crime solving drama series 'Chief Inspector', which aired on MBC from 1971 through 1989.
In particular, the first episode received positive response from viewers for its nostalgic portrayal of Korea in the late 1950's.

This being a prequel of a very popular drama(~70% ratings) I had a feeling the ratings would be high. Plus it’s Lee je hoon. His previous drama (TD1+2) started at 10-12% but only reached 21%. This a 10 episodes drama so I wonder how high it will reach.
