ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has come under fire for allegedly claiming that "Chairman Bang Si Hyuk copied my ideas to create BTS" and "ILLIT copied NewJeans. So did TWS and RIIZE; they also copied NewJeans."
In the midst of the ongoing dispute between ADOR and HYBE, which includes accusations of Min Hee Jin attempting a takeover, HYBE has launched an audit of ADOR.
Following her remarks regarding other K-pop groups copying her concepts, Korean netizens have uncovered the movie that Min Hee Jin purportedly referenced for NewJeans' debut track "Attention," sparking discussion across various online communities.
A netizen revealed that Min Hee Jin heavily referenced the 1981 German film 'Christiane F. - Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo (We Children from Zoo Station)' while producing NewJeans' "Attention," pointing out numerous similar scenes to the movie.
This discussion has gotten much attention online as Korean netizens pointed out that Min Hee Jin's ideas for NewJeans were not entirely original and also questioned the content of the film that was referenced.
They commented:
"The content of the movie is shocking. It's used as a reference for the debut song of underage idols. If this wasn't a problem back then, I wonder if people would now realize it was only possible under the protection of HYBE."
"But isn't an homage supposed to quote scenes or lines with respect? Is this what's called an homage? Sigh, why did she have to accuse other people of imitating her work?"
"I knew Min Hee Jin's tastes were a bit unconventional, but I didn't expect that from NewJeans... It's unsettling to see such work from her."
"It's funny how she accused others of imitating her work but then when you look at the work she referenced, it's not funny anymore."
"Her work is not entirely original either though."
"A lot of Min Hee Jin's inspiration comes from old Tumblr."
"The scenes are so similar."
"She copied the movie too."
"Even the song lyrics for 'Cookie' though..."
"The question of whether Min Hee Jin's directing concept has a pedophilic undertone or not has honestly been following her since her SM days. Throughout her career spanning over ten years, controversies with the same context have continued to arise in her different works."
"The movie content is so shocking."
"Wow, the movie story is really shocking... She really used it as a reference?"
