Jung Joon Young, the singer convicted of gang rape and illegal distribution of sex videos, was released from Mokpo Prison in Jeollanam-do on the morning of March 19 after completing his prison term. He left the facility at 5:05 am, one day ahead of the scheduled release date of March 20 KST.
Upon his release, Jung Joon Young emerged from prison wearing a black mask and a hat, concealing his face from public view.
Jung Joon Young, along with former FT Island singer Choi Jong Hoon, was arrested and charged in March 2019 for their involvement in the gang rape of women in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do, and Daegu in January and March 2016, respectively.
Additionally, Jung Joon Young was accused of distributing illegal sexual videos involving women in a KakaoTalk group chat, which included several celebrities, including Seungri, in 2015. He was sentenced to five years in prison by the Supreme Court in September 2020. Despite the dismissal of the prosecution's request for probation, Jung Joon Young was spared from disclosing personal information and wearing an electronic anklet.
During his final statement in the second trial, Jung Joon Young expressed remorse, acknowledging his inappropriate behavior. "I deeply regret my immoral and irresponsible actions towards the victims, and I will spend the rest of my life reflecting on my past mistakes," he stated.
He’s out already, and he got out of probation?! Korean laws will always be crazy too me.
