A middle school student who assaulted People Power Party politician Bae Hyun Jin with a rock is reported to have also thrown coffee and a bottle at actor Yoo Ah In.

On May 24, 2023, when an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In was denied, the middle school student approached him as he exited the Mapo Police Station in Seoul, hurling both coffee and a bottle at Yoo Ah In.

On January 31, Yonhap News TV revealed that the person claiming to be the assailant contacted them in December 2023. This individual, who disclosed his identity, expressed frustration with the media's coverage of Yoo Ah In's alleged drug use. He stated, "I became angry while watching the news on the drug allegations of Yoo Ah In, whom I didn't like. So, I thought I needed to teach him a lesson." He also sent a photo of himself, Yoo Ah In, and the reporting team. It was also reported that the individual requested, "If there are any photos containing my image, please provide them to me."

Media outlets later identified this person as middle schooler 'A,' who had attacked lawmaker Bae Hyun Jin on January 25. On January 25, the middle schooler waited for Bae at the hair salon for two hours before hitting her 10 times with a rock. According to Bae's secretary, the middle schooler approached the lawmaker and confirmed her identity before attacking. 

When the middle schooler was caught and questioned about his motive, he replied, "She does politics weirdly." Additionally, his parents, who arrived at the police station, explained, "Our child is very interested in politics. I think he saw the attack on representative Lee Jae Myung and copied the attack."

Following the assault, Lawmaker Bae was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. There, she underwent emergency surgical suturing and remained hospitalized for three days before being discharged on January 27.

Korean netizens commented, "If he's like that now, what will happen when he grows up," "He needs to be segregated," "I'm really curious about how his parents raised him," "He needs to be punished severely. Seems like this is going to be a repeat offense," "If you leave him like this, he's not going to throw coffee but he might later throw acid at people," and "People say this kid is infamous for being weird. Need to lock him up."
