Moon Byul from MAMAMOO is transitioning to embrace her identity as a vocalist rather than solely a rapper, marking a significant shift in her musical journey. Her debut solo full-length album, 'Starlit of Muse', set to release on February 20 KST, showcases a diverse range of music as Moon Byul emerges as her own muse.
In a recent interview in Seoul, Moon Byul expressed her excitement about returning with a full-length album after nearly a decade since her debut. She emphasized her intention to break free from the confines of being labeled solely as a rapper within MAMAMOO, striving to showcase her true self and musical capabilities.
Addressing her desire to transcend her rapper persona, Moon Byul explained how she sought to bridge the gap between rap and vocals by undertaking vocal and dance training while preparing for the album. This endeavor allowed her to explore new dimensions of her artistry and expand her vocal range significantly.
Moon Byul's efforts to redefine her musical identity have garnered praise, including from her fellow MAMAMOO member Solar, who commended her vocal prowess. Despite initial concerns about performing live, Moon Byul found confidence through dedicated practice and support from her team.
With her first full-length album, Moon Byul aims to express herself as a muse and showcase her artistic evolution. Through nine distinct tracks, she intends to defy expectations and demonstrate the limitless possibilities of music.
Looking ahead, Moon Byul envisions continuing her musical journey for years to come, expressing a desire to explore various genres and eventually pursue a career as a band vocalist. She hopes to offer audiences a diverse array of musical experiences while staying true to her evolving artistic vision.
Ultimately, Moon Byul envisions releasing music that provides solace and tranquility, reflecting her personal growth and evolving tastes over time. As she matures as an artist, she remains committed to her passion for music and looks forward to sharing her journey with listeners around the world.
I absolutely love her as a rapper, but the way RBW underutilized Moonbyul is so criminal. Mamamoo is the only girl group I stan and I can barely go back to watch old performances because she’s *literally* just standing there while the other 3 are singing their asses off. She has a 20 second long rap and then she has nothing else to do. She’s also a killer dancer and they did nothing with her.
I’m so happy and excited she’s going to be able to showcase ALL of her range as an idol and I can’t wait until her contract is up so she can go somewhere she can show off more.
