'2009 Famous Song Championship' to air in place of SBS 'Inkigayo' on February 11

On February 11, according to SBS's broadcast schedule, the popular music show 'Inkigayo', which airs every Sunday at 3:40 PM KST, is canceled for the day. Instead, viewers can look forward to the broadcast of the '2009 Famous Song Championship'.

The '2009 Famous Song Championship', will be delivered by the cast of SBS's YouTube channel MMTG, seeking to transcend borders and create content that resonates globally, establishing Korea's new cultural identity.

Spearheaded by the charismatic MC Jaejae and joined by Girls' Generation's Sooyoung as co-host, the show promises to bring back the nostalgia of 2009 with captivating stories.

Adding to the excitement, K-pop legends like KARA's Gyuri, Youngji, and 2AM's Seulong will perform iconic songs while sharing anecdotes from the memorable year. The show guarantees a blend of musical brilliance and intriguing tales from 2009.

The program also features the dynamic trio of musical actor Kim Ho Young, idol Chuu, and the AI idol JD1 presented by trot singer Jung Dong Won. Their collaboration is expected to heat up the studio, offering viewers a fresh and exciting experience.

2009 was really the golden yearrr!!! Avery debut groups reached and peaked at no. 1 with their super hit songs.. even ballads were daebakkkkk

Back then there was no youtube/instagram/tiktok etc content for international fans only variety shows on national tv and private broadcasting channels. Most of the songs were popular in South Korea and only few really became successful and popular out of South Korea especially Asia.
